What We Want
The Department of Marine and Coastal Enviornmental Science is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our research team as a Research Assistant. The selected candidate will be responsible for the administrative, and managerial support in research. Plans and directs certain phases in a research project. What You Need To Know

Position Details: Conduct and lead field sampling. Conduct post-deployment demobilization and sample storage. Oversee sample archiving
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • A valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to conduct and lead field sampling
  • Knowledge of sample archiving
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to conduct post-deployment mobilization
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Research Experience
  • Ph.D. in a Marine Sciences Field
Responsibilities
  • Demobilization of field study and archival of results- Provides support in the preparation of research results. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Administrative and Managerial Support- Assists in preparing and writing proposals to funding agencies; maintains financial accounts related to research projects. Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research. Installs, operates, maintains, and/or repairs research equipment. Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
  • Research Planning and Direction- Assists in the design, planning, and coordinating of experiments in support of various research projects. Travels to various research project sites as needed. Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results. Evaluates and summarizes results.
