DESCRIPTION

Morgan Stanley’s North American Fixed Income Research team is looking for an Analyst or junior Associate to join the credit strategy team. The role involves contributing to the team’s investment views on US HY bonds and leveraged loans, building and maintaining analytical models, and handling client requests. The candidate will also contribute to research notes and be actively involved in client meetings and calls. The candidate must possess some background in corporate credit markets, be familiar with debt and issuer structures in leveraged credit markets. Other requirements include a good understanding of corporate finance, excel skills, data management, and good communication skills.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Fixed-income market analysis
  • Corporate credit analysis
  • Research and write reports on investment strategy related to leveraged credit markets
  • Respond to requests for data, information and calls from internal and external clients
  • Keep abreast of industry-related news flow
  • Develop and maintain relationships with institutional investor clients
  • Regular interaction with fixed-income sales and trading
  • Understand the nuances of the industry
Skills Required:
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop analytical frameworks for formulating investment recommendations
  • Outstanding analytical/financial skills including experience with leveraged credit markets
  • High energy, self-motivated, creative and organized

  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize a must

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years work experience in a research, trading, banking, capital markets, or investment capacity in credit markets.
  • Capabilities in bond math and applied statistical methods
  • Programming skills and some sector knowledge are helpful, but not required

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst, and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
