The Commercial Contracts Specialist will be a key member of the US Commercial team reporting to the Manager, Commercial Contracts Management. As a member of the Business Planning team, the Commercial Contracts Specialist will work closely with business partners throughout the US Commercial team to ensure the appropriate organization and maintenance of company contracts and records. The Commercial Contracts Specialist will also draft agreements and provide operational support from end-to end for all Commercial agreements. This includes helping train and educate internal stakeholders on contracting processes and systems that will aid the company in effectively managing the full contracting lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• First point of contracts triaging and assessment
• Assisting with system administration of our contracts management system
• Managing, organizing, and storing electronic versions of all contracts and other documents in the company's contract management and other filing systems
• Entering key contract information into the contract management system
• Retrieving and providing copies of contracts and other documents upon request
• Ensuring that contracts are executed properly and uploaded in a timely manner to the company's contract management system
• Drafting and reviewing all U.S. Commercial agreements, including Confidential Disclosure agreements, Sponsorship agreements, Vendor agreements, Statements of Work, and contract amendments
• Collaborating with other departments to coordinate contract review and facilitate the end-to-end process
Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in discussing business and legal concerns, and engaging resources of other departments
Identify, analyze, research, and resolve business process issues and make appropriate recommendations
Logical reasoning skills to think through alternate solutions and consequences
Time management, including ability to organize and prioritize work to meet needs of organization
Keen attention to details and demonstrated ability to multi-task
Provide expertise to Business Owners and other internal stakeholders on options and recommend best approaches; recognize potentially problematic contract terms before engaging the legal department and escalate those terms to the appropriate parties
Education Required:
Bachelor of Arts / Science required.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet and Excel
Other Qualifications and Experience:
• 3-5 years of professional contract administration or equivalent experience, preferable at a pharmaceutical or biotech company
• Fluency in English is required
• Experience with contract management software
• Experience organizing and maintaining a broad variety of contract types
• Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information using excellent discretion and judgment
• Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as a team player
• Ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
