Montgomery County Department of Recreation , a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is seeking highly motivated SEASONAL EMPLOYEES to support the department's mission to provide high quality, diverse, and accessible community-based programs, activities, and services that serve the recreation and leisure needs of the Montgomery County community. The department is looking for highly motivated and experienced nutrition managers to help service our Seniors at our new Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center (SSRAC) located in downtown Silver Spring as well as multiple other locations throughout the county.
The Senior Nutrition Manager is a leadership position that works in collaboration with the Seniors Team, Health and Human Services (HHS), Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) staff to provide nutritional meals to seniors in a congregate meal setting. As a Senior Nutrition Site Manager, you will have general hosting duties, meal responsibilities, Personnel & Financial tasks, and administrative duties. Nutrition Site Managers must follow the procedures in the County’s Senior Nutrition Program Policy & Procedure Manual and follow the direction of their host site director & the Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) Staff.
General duties for a Senior Nutrition Manager:
· Explain the Program to new participants and assist them to become acquainted with other Program participants and services that may be of interest to them.
· Be present during the entire meal service period to serve as host and general manager for the Program at the site.
· Deliver Nutrition Education in various formats (verbal, audio/visual, paper based) as directed by SNP staff, host site director, and and/or coordinate with guest speakers who will provide nutrition education.
· Take meal reservations, cancellations, or adjustments within meal allocation limits, clearly indicating the menu choice of each person for each day. Communicate orders to SNP staff for meals no later than 48 business hours priors to scheduled service.
· Keep track of no-shows and enforcing cancellation and no-show policies, applying the appropriate sanctions.
· Set up and serve pre-plated meals provided by the caterer to program participants according to procedure. Make shifts recommendations for eating, if needed, because of sanitary requirements.
· Ensure all sanitation procedures for the lunch area.
· Accept meal deliveries, record food temperatures, and follow food handling procedures. Immediately notify the caterer, host site and SNP staff of problems with the daily delivery, such as shortages and food quality issues.
Additional Duties:
· Train, direct, and supervise volunteers who assist with the program to encourage an atmosphere of socialization.
· Communicate and oversee the monetary contributions with the program as outlined in the policy manual.
· Collect and oversee the registration information and generate participant swipe cards as needed.
Individuals in this position will be required to attend a training from HHS, follow all proper food handling policies and regulations, and be able to navigate Excel, Word, Outlook, Forms, etc. This is a year-round seasonal lunch program position that has morning prep time and afternoon data tracking/input built into the position. Start times may vary daily based on the delivery of meals from caterer.
All candidates will be required to successfully pass a criminal history background check. These processes will include State, Federal and Sexual Offender registry checks.
The hourly rate for this SEASONAL/TEMPORARY position is $21.01

Minimum QualificationsExperience: Four thousand one hundred sixty (4,160) hours (two (2) years) of relevant work
experience as an instructor or supervisor in one or more specialized recreation activities.
Education: Completion of two (2) years of college.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
