Robert Half is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant with an eye for accuracy to fill a short-term contract / temporary to hire position at a growing company. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. Based in the Lauderdale Lakes, Florida region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
• Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
• Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
• Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
• Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
• Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
• Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
• Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
• Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

Requirements

• Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
• Recent and relevant accounting experience
• Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
• Vow to meet business deadlines
• Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
• Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
• Adeptness in quality assurance
• Strong attention to detail
• Microsoft Excel experience preferred
• Strong familiarity with project accounting
• Comprehensive knowledge of Excel Formulas
• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• Depth Analysis experience highly desired
• Analysis experience
• Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
• Knowledgeable of ERP systems
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
