Position Overview:
The Enterprise Operations and Technology (EO+T) Division drives high-profile, high-visibility Technology projects and programs that enable the overall business and technology strategy, satisfy regulatory compliance requirements, and achieve risk or issue remediation objectives for Freddie Mac. Many efforts have enterprise-wide scope and scale and require coordination and collaboration across multiple divisions. Freddie Mac’s Portfolio Management Office (PMO) seeks a Program Management Director to join our team in the McLean, VA location to provide leadership and direction over a technology project portfolio.
As the PMO delivery leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of program and project managers and driving these efforts to completion.
Our Impact:
The EO+T Portfolio Management Office (PMO) is responsible for:
- Facilitating investment prioritization and downstream impacts to committed projects
- Ensuring the division’s technology investments are aligned with the business-led Technology Strategy
- Providing effective governance forums and briefings to facilitate approval and alignment
- Defining EO+T division governance standards, processes, forums, tools, and templates related to the identification, selection, monitoring, and evaluation of our division’s technology investments
- Managing new project intake to ensure scope, timeline, budget, and business outcomes are defined
- Providing tools, reporting, and guidance to track status and performance of EO+T technology initiatives
- Providing transparency into EO+T technology investment capabilities and cost
- Managing significant EO+T technology projects on time and on budget
Your Impact:
In this role, you will play an integral part of supporting EO+T technology strategy, key technology initiative implementation, and risk management by:
- Engaging directly with business area stakeholders to identify initiatives and develop business cases
- Regularly interacting with senior and/ or executive management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
- Ensuring all work is tracked appropriately in the established tools (e.g., Jira, Planview)
- Establishing operational objectives, workplans, and delegation of assignments to subordinate project managers
- Providing insight on strategic EO+T technology projects and initiatives, implementation and risk management, and value realization
- Overseeing the purpose, status, and plans for all projects within the portfolio as well as cross-project dependencies and achievement of business outcomes
- Managing a portfolio of significant technology projects across the division and enterprise
- Establishing and assuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, delivery methodology, and performance requirements
- Ensuring the team is operating in the most effective way possible and has the appropriate level of skills and capabilities to be successful
Qualifications:
- 10+ years management experience
- Ability to think strategically, evaluate options and make informed decisions
- Strong understanding of IT program management frameworks (e.g., SAFe)
- Ability to handle several priorities and work within tight timeframes
- Financial services / mortgage industry experience (Preferred)
- Ability to interact both verbally and in writing with senior leaders
- 12-15 years of technology program and portfolio management experience
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., SAFe, PMP) (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, related field or equivalent work experience
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and influence at all levels of the enterprise
