We want you to join our team and make meaningful connections within the community, engage with youth, and get to know their story. As a Program Instructor, you will learn how experience affects various behaviors and how to help make the necessary connections through program activity and delivery. You will see the impact you will have on a young Girl Scout while developing your facilitating and time management skills.
How do we do this?
Girl Scouts collaborates with schools and communities to provide a 14 week in-school program to middle school students. This allows you to travel to different school communities to make a stronger youth impact. The curriculum provided encompasses Social Emotional Learning, Mental Health, STEM and more. You will be equipped with tools and resources to facilitate sessions and provide a quality experience that will ignite youth and encourage them to explore beyond what they know and empower them to be leaders of change.
This is a full-time, in-person position located in East Texas (Tyler):
- $20.00/hour
- Full-time
- Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
- $100 signing bonus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Gathers program supplies needed for lesson/activity.
- Coordinates and assists in field trips, special events, and take action projects (some weekends).
- Assist, participate and mentor girls during the Cookie Program to establish goal setting, time management, budgeting, people skills, and business ethics.
- Responsible for the collection of program materials correspondence, reports and emails including registration, attendance, agreements, and permission slips.
- Serves as site representative for GSNETX at partner sites.
- Administrative duties as assigned.
- Serves as and is responsible for being a role model for girls in behavior and attitude while following the Girl Scout Promise and Law and GSNETX policy and procedures.
- Attends essential team meetings, trainings and deliver programs as assigned and instructed.
- Works with girls, teachers, staff to administer program surveys. Distributes and collects parent and teacher surveys.
- Assist with promotion of Community Partnership programming modules and girl participation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff and community.
- Identifies and communicates partner sites needs to Manager to aid in program improvements for effective and efficient achievement of outcomes.
- Facilitate live-stream program modules and/or travel to various schools or other locations to facilitate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience curriculum and activities to girls between 8am-4pm (M-F).
OTHER:
- Must be able to travel within established geographic areas and council service centers, as necessary.
- Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid drivers’ license and meet GSNETX driving record & automobile insurance requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, before and after hours, and on weekends, when required.

- Knowledge of Girl Scout Program helpful.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Public speaking experience.
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check.
- Must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage class sizes ranging from 15 to 60 with other members of the team.
- Education background preferred. Girl Scout and Nonprofit experience is a plus.
- General knowledge of Dallas as a city, the cultures, and needs inherent in urban areas will help to serve girls more effectively within our schools.
- Follow expectations and guidelines
- Working knowledge of best practices in nonprofit and/or education.
- Ability to care for technology that is assigned; full responsibility for any damaged equipment.
- High school graduate with at least 2 years of work or volunteer related experience or some college.
- Must be available between 8am-4pm (M-F).
- Must remain focused on girl experiences and processes and how they impact short- and long-term outcomes while delivering program activities to the girls to ensure their Girl Scout experience meets the objectives of the program.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Reliable transportation: travel to partner sites will be required.
- Demonstrates and promotes a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his position puts her/him in contact.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Genuine concern for the future and well-being of girls that have various socio-economic barriers.
- Bilingual (preferred, but not required).
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident and authorized to work in the U.S.

The employee must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- GSNETX will provide Safety, Child Abuse, and Child Neglect training per state regulation requirements.
- GSNETX will provide CPR/AED and First Aid training and certification.
