Job Description
Inheritance Baltimore: Humanities and Arts Education for Black Liberation (IB), a collaborative endeavor among local cultural institutions, scholars, artists, and performers, seeks a Baltimore area-based Program Assistant who can join the project during its third year to document events, affiliated publications, media exposure, and program developments, as well as to help craft public and institutional messaging about the project. Work product will include the conferral of materials from the Billie Holiday Center to the larger IB team, JHU, and the Baltimore Community, and in conjunction with IB leadership, an internal report to Johns Hopkins University leadership on the achievements made and challenges faced by the IB project. This in-person position will be ideal for graduate students or professionals trained in the fields of communications, critical media studies, ethnography, or journalism. Days and hours of work will be scheduled as needed. The position's initial term ends December 31, 2024, but there is a possibility of extension.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Research speakers for the Helena Hicks Speaker Series.
Create a yearlong schedule for the speaker series.
Update the BHCLA website regarding upcoming events for speaker series.
Create flyers for the speaker series.
Serve as a liaison between the churches and BHCLA.
Create and distribute mailings to the BHCLA church partners.
Provide support for the Billie Holiday Center for Liberation Arts preparation and execution of the Jazz in the Square.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years college coursework.
Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
College courses in humanities, Black history, and culture.
Fluency in arts programming and African Diasporic history.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
