Job Description
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) has an exciting opportunity for a Program Coordinator.The Program Coordinator will coordinate and support one of our state Medicine Residency programs. The selected candidate will also serve as a backup to department administrative coordinators. Responsibilities may include office supply ordering, scheduling, calendar coordination, document preparation, filing, and providing meeting support./This is a Contractual position./ The Department of Family & Community Medicine at UMSOM is one of the oldest Family Medicine training programs in the country. The training program was established in 1970 and has graduated over 300 new family physicians in the past 37 years. The Department is well-known nationally for its emphasis on the care of the urban population, the prevention and management of adolescent pregnancy and the training of new minority academic family physicians. As a model family practice unit, we provide care for urban Baltimore, and have done so for over 30 years. The patient population is diverse economically and ethnically, and provides a wealth of clinical material and learning opportunities for residents and medical students. The superb faculty is diverse in their areas of expertise and procedural skills, and in gender and ethnic background. The Department is extremely proud that it has assisted in training numerous new academic family physicians who have continued the tradition of providing excellent patient care, education, and research at this and other university training programs. Essential Functions * Coordinate activities and functions of a designated program (project #) to ensure that goals and objectives for specified program is accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. * Coordinate day-to-day activities of the program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications. * Manage data collection, keep records of program activities: progress, status, and outcomes, and prepare reports for management. * Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures, or presentations. * Assist in the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors. * Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with community members and partners in order to grow the programming. * Schedule, market, and promote events of the program by independently developing promotional marketing materials and event plans. * May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of work study students, volunteers, and contractual employees. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree. Experience:One (1) year administrative or program coordination experience. Other:Related experience to program may be substituted for education.
