Job Summary
As the Product Engineering manager, you will, you will lead subsets of the company’s product engineering team as a point of contact for technical, budget and resource allocation issues to meet team members’ needs, customer requirements, and company goals.
This position's internal job code is Production Engineering Manager. Our team is currently hiring for a level K.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing the transition of Millennium products from engineering development to mature manufacturable units and supporting any engineering discrepancies that occur during manufacture. You will coordinate with engineering teams, manufacturing, mission assurance, programs, and other concerned parties on the development of Millennium products and any discrepancies / modifications that occur during product lifetime. Other job duties to include:

• Motivate and support team
• Promote knowledge sharing and peer review
• Work with business development and marketing to maintain customer facing product flysheets
• Develop processes and tools in conjunction with the manufacturing team to better quantify the design impacts on manufacturability of products in early designs and concepts
• Work with engineering teams to transition development work to mature products.
• Conduct new hire reviews and semi-annual performance reviews
• Recommend promotions and annual raises
• Define those key artifacts, reviews, and deliverables
• Work with engineering teams to maintain configuration control of all products
• Maintain documentation for current products including technical, schedule, and costing information to support proposals and programs
• Work with the engineering organization, business development, programs, and manufacturing to develop a product roadmap that aligns to Millennium corporate objectives
• Update our current product development process to clearly define our product development workflow including:
• Meet with team members as a whole frequently, as individuals slightly less frequently
• Allocate individuals based on needs and skills available
• Well defined development schedule templates
• Mentor, train, motivate, and develop Products staff
• Identify, communicate, and assist in the risk management process
• Advocate for the team
• Continuously Improve our product development team and processes
• Other job duties as assigned
• Supporting proposal efforts to define the initial scope of the team
• Coordinate with other Team Leads
• Help define, refine, and improve our S/C architecture to reduce harnessing, improve commonality, interoperability, and ease of integration.
• Work with hardware engineering director to develop, evaluate, and refine technical processes and standards for the Products team.
• Ensure processes, practices, and standards are adopted and any changes documented
• Reduce our development cycle to less than 18 months or better from concept to qualification
• Update our AS9100 documentation to capture our product development workflows
• Key artifacts, reviews, and deliverables
• Work with engineering teams to work through discrepancies or design modifications
• As required, communicate company activities, decisions, and events
• Assign Products staff to programs and products and evaluate technical performance
• Manage Products team and staff including personnel reviews, tasking, and work scope
• Help to resolve problematic situations or employees, elevating to Director and/or HR as required
• Develop tools to provide cost and schedule inputs to product development planning
• Develop metrics to track product development progress

Minimum Qualifications

• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
• Methodical design, testing, and troubleshooting capabilities
• Detailed knowledge of hardware and/or software
• At least 2 years as an Responsible Engineering Authority, Project Lead, Control Account Manager, or equivalent
• Degree in electrical, computer, or other relevant engineering
• At least 6 years developing and manufacturing electronic assemblies, or similar experience
• Must be versatile and able to perform and manage multiple tasks concurrently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
• Experience in qualifying space avionics

Summary Pay-Range

• Level K: $138,550 - $203,750
