Product Manager, Ranking - Homes (Remote)

Hopper Homes is building the best place to book vacation rental homes at the best price. We are hiring a Product Manager to focus on improving search rank. Our goal is to enhance the visibility and discoverability of the best vacation rental homes in search results among our massive pool of listings, ensuring that our customers easily and quickly find the best options for their needs.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data analysis and search optimization to drive significant improvements in our ranking algorithm. Working closely with the product management, engineering, and supply teams, you will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses to identify new project areas and develop strategies to enhance our search performance.

The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging data-driven insights to drive business impact, skilled in analyzing large datasets and search behavior patterns, capable of collaborating with & leading cross-functional teams, and executes with a strong bias towards action.

This position offers a unique opportunity to drive a substantial impact on defining and evolving our ranking system, as well as drive revenue for the entire business as a whole.

Note: Title and level is flexible based on the candidate’s relevant background, experience, and interview performance.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including other engineers, designers, etc., to align efforts
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement algorithm improvements across the end-to-end ranking stack
• Develop and implement metrics and frameworks to measure and optimize our search ranking performance for vacation rental homes
• Analyze user search behavior, industry data, and competitive benchmarks to gain insights and identify opportunities
• Drive the long term vision and roadmap
• Conduct experiments and analyze the impact of ranking and product changes to continuously refine and drive business impact

Minimum Qualifications

• Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management as required, both verbally and written
• Enthusiasm and curiosity for conducting research and answering hard questions with data
• The ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive, handle ambiguity, and the challenge of quickly evolving goals
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical work to a non-technical audience
• Lead and align a full cross functional team towards a common vision and extended roadmap
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
• 2 to 4+ years of relevant work experience
• Strong background in relational databases, SQL, and machine learning systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with building and deploying machine learning models
• Experience using Amplitude, BigQuery
• Experience with ranking or recommendation systems
