Private Equity Firm/Family Office Assistant Controller

Our client is a private equity fund and family office with $100mil+ AUM. The firm is looking for an assistant controller to join their team. The Assistant Controller will manage fund accounting, financial reporting, audit and tax functions, supervising the Senior Accountant and reporting directly to the CFO.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Managing charitable donations, as well as private foundation and donor advised funds
• Assisting with SEC filings (ADV, Form PF, AUM calculation)
• Assisting in a wide array of estate planning matters (trust management, tax strategy, etc.)
• Reviewing capital calls and distributions, quarterly investor allocation for main funds, and quarterly NAV packages
• Overseeing expense reimbursements, bill payments, and general cash management
• Addressing investor requests, ad hoc
• Monitoring ongoing compliance initiatives
• Maintaining strong, positive working relationships with auditors, tax preparers, and compliance advisors
• Spearheading special projects (philanthropy, infrastructure upgrades etc.)
• Reviewing quarterly transactions reporting

Ideal Qualifications:

• Self-starter, proactive approach, desire to take ownership and get involved across multiple fields
• Strong attention to detail and project management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• CPA highly preferred
• Exposure to estate planning vehicles (GRAT, CLAT, etc.) a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment and handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong technical background and able to manage various fund structures
• 5-8 years of Accounting/Finance experience, at least 3 years at private equity / venture fund
• Good communication skills, ability to coach and mentor junior team member
