Purpose of position
The People and Culture Generalist plays a critical role in ensuring the success and satisfaction of our employees and performs a broad spectrum of human resources duties across the function. Primary responsibilities, however, will revolve around two key areas: A-Z benefits administration including enrollment, maintenance, and communication, while also serving as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries, and creating a positive onboarding experience for new hires and facilitating employee offboarding processes. Diligence, strong organizational skills, and ability to foster positive relationships with the People and Culture team, IT and Finance will be essential to success in this position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Employee Benefits Administration:
As a key point of contact for employee benefits, the People and Culture Generalist will be responsible for overseeing the entire employee benefits administration process, from A to Z. This includes managing health insurance plans, retirement plans, leave policies, and other employee benefits programs. Your keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills will be essential as you navigate through the complexities of benefits enrollment, maintenance, and communication. You will also serve as the go-to person for employee inquiries and problem resolution related to benefits.
New Hire Onboarding and Employee Offboarding:
The People and Culture Generalist will be instrumental in creating a positive and seamless onboarding experience for our new hires, ensuring that they feel welcomed and prepared for their new roles. From coordinating orientation sessions to facilitating necessary paperwork and system access, you will be the face of our organization during this critical transition period. Similarly, you will handle employee offboarding processes. Your ability to handle these sensitive procedures with empathy and professionalism will be crucial.
Technical Proficiency:
The People and Culture Generalist possesses strong organizational and technical skills to ensure accurate and timely administration of employee benefits. The Generalist will effectively manage benefits through a benefits administration portal (Definiti uses Paylocity). This includes administering the enrollment process and ensuring seamless communication of digital file feeds to and from benefits carriers.
Collaboration and Relationship Building:
In this role, the People and Culture Generalist you will work closely with various teams, including the People and Culture team IT, and finance. Strong relationships with these departments are essential to streamline processes, ensure data accuracy, and provide exceptional support to employees. By fostering open lines of communication, you will collaborate on initiatives, troubleshoot issues, and drive effective HR practices throughout the organization.
Broad HR Duties:
In addition to the specific focus areas mentioned above, the People and Culture Generalist will contribute to broader HR responsibilities, including planning programs and events that promote a positive culture and employee engagement. The Generalist will also create and document standard operating procedures and policies within the People and Culture team. The Generalist will serve as a valuable backup resource for various HR disciplines, including HRIS data entry, compliance with federal and state regulations, payroll support, employee relations, performance management, leave of absence administration, and recruiting. This diverse range of duties will allow you to gain exposure to multiple aspects of HR and contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Education and Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, Benefits Specialist, or related position required
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field of study required
- HR designation (SHRM or HRCI) required
- Intermediate working knowledge of HR functions and procedures (e.g., pay and benefits, onboarding, offboarding, compliance, employee relations, recruitment, training, and development etc.)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Intermediate MS skills to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; ability to navigate web-based programs
