New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to disrupting the predictability of educational inequities for BIPOC students, multilingual learners, students experiencing poverty, and immigrant students by accelerating educator effectiveness. Since our founding in 1998, NTC rigorously works with educators and facilitators at all levels of a system to center students’ needs to transform professional learning and equip educators with the tools to disrupt inequitable education practices. In 2021-22, NTC developed instructional leadership in 6,775 schools to reach 217,000 teachers and impact the learning of 3.8M students in over 650 districts across 29 states. Your Impact:

Reporting to Senior Director, Talent Acquisition and Onboarding, the People and Culture Associate will lead the operational and administrative functions of the people and culture team, ensuring smooth and streamlined implementation of all people-related processes and protocols.


What Will You Do:


Talent Acquisition

  • Liaise with hiring managers and candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure seamless and streamlined communication of next steps and action items
  • Screen candidate applications and oversee the screening and video interview processes"
  • Maintain the job description library and hiring resource materials and ensure they are easily accessible via the intranet and the shared Google Drive
  • Collaborate with the IT department to manage and implement applicant tracking systems, video interview platforms, and other software programs supporting talent acquisition
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to maintain the NTC Careers page and social media content.
  • Create and manage job requisitions throughout the duration of a job search including role creation, approval, selection process, and closeout.
  • Support scheduling of candidate interviews as needed
  • Collaborate with IT to implement talent acquisition systems and interview platform
  • Post jobs via internal channels and external job boards
  • Participate in internal interviews as needed (as a panel member or observer)


Onboarding

  • Manage the hiring documentation system (e.g., new hire documents, onboarding materials)
  • Conduct pre-hire onboarding communication with new hires including issuing offer letters, coordinating new hire data entry, and the collection of key new hire documents (e.g., I-9 verification, background check coordination, various new hire attestation documents)
  • Maintain relevant and up-to-date content and resources on the learning management platform, intranet, and onboarding materials
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure new hire documentation is received in a timely manner.


Employee and Team Support

  • Manage the administrative processing of leaves of absence and staff accommodation requests (e.g., letter issuance, employee follow-up)
  • Organize, maintain, and manage the People & Culture team intranet page and Google Drive, ensuring all content is accurate, up-to-date, and organized.
  • Field employee data requests and manage data reporting from various systems, including EmTrain, NetSuite, Taleo, and PlanSource
  • Maintain current employee files, create new hire files, and ensure the People Team’s filing system complies with data retention and compliance policies.
  • Manage the People & Culture team inbox; ensure timely responses
  • Process and manage all benefit-related paperwork, including claims, changes, and terminations, ensuring the accuracy and confidentiality of employee data.
  • Field requests for VOEs (verification of employment) from previous employees.
  • Process staff separations and conduct offboarding tasks (administer surveys, coordinate exit interviews)
  • Conduct data entry in NTC’s HRIS, Netsuite to reflect all new hire updates, employee transitions, leaves, demographics, compensation, and separations.
  • Track and manage all required company training (e.g., sexual harassment) to ensure all staff are in compliance
  • Manage the key reporting requirements such as ACA and EEO-1 reporting, which includes collecting key data and content from various teams.


What You Bring:

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and pivot as needed
  • 2-4 years of related experience required (Talent Acquisition, employee onboarding, HR operations)
  • Reflective thinkers with a willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Some understanding of human resources terminology and laws
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree required, a degree in human resources preferred
  • Comfort working in a remote setting with the ability to travel quarterly.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and overlapping timelines, as we are a new and growing team establishing new processes and systems.
  • A positive attitude attended by resilience and adaptability to succeed in the ever-evolving environment of a small company.
  • Strong ability to identify process improvements to increase operational efficiency
  • Knowledge of end to end life cycle of an employee
  • Proficiency with technology systems such as Google Suite, applicant tracking systems, HRIS


What We Offer:

This position offers a competitive starting salary range of $65,705 to $71,503 and a robust benefits package. At NTC, in determining a salary offer for a role, we consider the role, experience, and skills needed while maintaining equity in our compensation bands. For this and other reasons, we have adopted a no-negotiation policy.
