Payroll Specialist - Remote

About the Role:

They need a remote-based Payroll Specialist who shares their passion for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in the unique context of a university grant payroll system. This is an excellent remote opportunity to join a dynamic team within a prestigious university.

THIS IS A FULLTIME REMOTE OPPORTUNITY

• We are interested in candidates within Oakland, San Francisco, or San Jose.

Responsibilities:

• Navigate the grant payout processes for student workers, ensuring accurate allocation of funds.
• Address employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters within the university community.
• Manage payroll data including new hires, terminations, changes in pay rates, and benefits specific to the university setting.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statements, and summaries.
• Process full-cycle payroll for university employees accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by university management.
• Verify timekeeping records, calculate wages, deductions, and adjustments.
• Support audits and provide required documentation to ensure compliance with university policies and external regulations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum HS Diploma
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff, remotely.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements applicable to universities.
• Understanding of grant payout processes for student workers and faculty pay structures within a university context.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in remote grant payroll processing and administration, preferably within a university or higher education environment.
• Proficiency in using any remote payroll software/systems (experience with Workday is a plus).

Annual base salary for this position ranges from $75000 - $82000annually
