LHH is partnering with a rapidly growing manufacturing company committed to delivering quality products and services to their customers. They take pride in their dynamic team and are currently seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant to join their finance department and contribute to their continued success.
Job Summary:
As a Payroll Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for their multi-state workforce of 100 employees. You will be responsible for maintaining and tracking complex project-based timekeeping data, managing employee hours, processing payroll taxes, preparing W2s, calculating retirement plan contributions, and preparing journal entries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll and tax regulations to ensure compliance.
- Prepare journal entries related to payroll and benefits.
- Maintain and track project-based timekeeping data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Process in-house multi-state payroll for 100 employees accurately and on time.
- Process payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local taxes, and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
- Calculate retirement plan contributions and ensure accurate deductions.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to track employee hours, audit for accuracy, and make necessary adjustments.
- Prepare annual W2 forms and distribute them to employees in a timely manner.
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with payroll and accounting systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex spreadsheets and perform data analysis.
