Pastry Chef Position Summary:
At Westwood Country Club our Pastry Chef uses their skillset and experience to curate a dessert and pastry program for our clubhouse restaurant, banquet and catering department, fast casual restaurant, and lounge. They enjoy creative freedoms, work/life balance, and fantastic benefits. Our Pastry Chef is responsible for the production of their items as well as managing additional pastry staff (when volume allows).
Essential Job Functions: *including but not limited to*
- Awareness and implementation of current bread and pastry arts, trends, and ingredients.
- Train and assist with supervision and scheduling of other pastry staff.
- Costs out recipes; requisite products and supplies needed for the pastry department; establish quality controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft.
- Enforce and abide by all established country club policies pertinent to kitchen operations.
- Ensure par levels are adequate for daily service of a la carte and banquet functions.
- Assist Executive Chef with annual budget and manage all controllable expenses related to the pastry department.
- Create specials and new desserts to renew the menu and engage the interest of members.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary environment to ensure compliance with local and state health codes and for the safety of our employees, members, and guests.
- Responsible for creating, developing, set-up and maintenance of all aspects of the pastry and bread production.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
This position requires a minimum of three years in the role of Pastry Chef; some Spanish speaking skills is a plus but is not required; Texas Food Managers Safety Certificate.
Compensation:
Starting wage is $62,000+ annually with possible overtime; based on experience, skills, and abilities.

Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, holding/carrying, twisting/turning, reaching, climbing stairs/ladders, sitting. Employee will have the ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds on a consistent basis. Must be able to stand and work in a hot, humid and sometime loud environment for long periods of time. Must be able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment, while maintaining accuracy.
