As the Banquet Chef at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), Boston, you will assume a supervisory role, overseeing and actively participating in food preparation, maintaining quality standards, ensuring physical maintenance, and managing inventory. Your primary objectives will be to uphold high-quality standards, prioritize safety, and achieve revenue goals. With your culinary expertise and leadership, you will contribute to the flawless execution of banquets and events, crafting memorable dining experiences for all our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the creation of menus and recommend changes to improve our banquet offerings, ensuring culinary excellence and guest happiness for everyone.
- Perform additional assigned duties as required, contributing to the success of our banquet operations and promoting inclusivity.
- Ensure compliance with all sanitation, Serve-Safe, and safety requirements, maintaining a hygienic and safe culinary environment for all staff and guests.
- Take charge of the culinary management of our food service operation, including inventory management, ordering, and receiving, to maintain efficient stock levels and minimize waste.
- Identify and implement procedural and production changes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in our banquet operations, encouraging an inclusive and supportive work environment.
- Demonstrate strength in menu development, cost controls, and purchasing and inventory management, with a focus on sourcing and using local food products whenever possible, supporting sustainable and diverse culinary practices.
Qualifications:
- A Culinary Degree is required, while an Associates Degree is preferred, showcasing your formal culinary education and foundation of culinary knowledge.
- Possess a strong desire to work with an industry leader, demonstrating your dedication to culinary excellence and a passion for delivering outstanding banquets and events for a diverse range of individuals.
- Exhibit extensive knowledge of food and catering trends, emphasizing quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation, ensuring a diverse and inclusive culinary experience for all guests.
- Possess 3-5 years of relevant culinary experience, preferably with exposure to high-volume production and catering environments.
