Duties


This position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed one year, under an intermittent work schedule which means employment is without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. The selectee is only paid for actual hours worked and is limited to 1,040 hours (six months) and may be terminated at any time. This position starts at a salary of $98,496.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $128,043.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $128,043 (GS-13 Step 10). In this Operations Officer position, you will become a key member of Homeland Security by supporting employees who are detecting and preventing terrorists and instruments of terror from entering the U.S. Typical work assignments include: Responding to and resolving technical and operational questions regarding intelligence analysis, inspection, and law enforcement activities relating to the arrival and departure of international passengers, conveyances, and cargo. Providing guidance and training, communicating intelligence and enforcement information, disseminating new policies and procedures impacting operations and identifying areas for improvement. Providing critical training for CBP Officer trainees and the development of Supervisory CBP Officers. Implementing formal mentoring and coaching programs to enhance employee interpersonal and career development and improve employee retention.
