We are seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join the Investment Operations (IO) team. Our team manages the implementation for PIMCO’s new instruments and markets for all products as well as managing our outsourced middle office service provider and our custodial oversight program. The team also oversees emerging markets investment operations and market setup. This role is part of an operational, strategic initiative and is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals to differentiate themselves. In this role, you will assist our Portfolio Managers in delivering incremental alpha and managing operational risk while growing their knowledge base.

Key Responsibilities


  • Track and report accurate deliverable status for assigned scope and be able to present to stakeholders independently
  • Oversee providers and ensure they are delivering qualitative output
  • Develop presentations with mentorship
  • Understand and consistently meets project stakeholder expectations by being able to understand the interdependencies across multiple sub-projects and manage progress
  • Provide solutions/suggestions to bring the best outcome for our clients
  • Identify, source, measure, monitor, evaluate, and mitigate operational risk in processes
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, custodians, brokers, Legal & Compliance, other operations teams, Account Management, and front, middle and back offices globally in promoting process efficiency
  • Understand the importance of good record keeping and be prepared to provide back-up when request
  • Socialize with custodians, brokers, front, middle and back offices globally in promoting process efficiency and increase effectiveness
  • Track and report accurate deliverable status for assigned scope and be able to present to stakeholders independently
  • Serve as the “go-to” for stakeholders
  • Mobilize other subject matter experts to provide solution suggestions to bring the best outcome

  • Contribute to driving projects and getting stakeholders to reach a consensus on complicated processes


Position Requirements


  • Able to apply knowledge and experience to effectively manage requests and resolve issues
  • Strong business writing skills. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with others; and to create valuable resources for the business.
  • Experience in new market onboarding experience; operational knowledge in foreign exchange and emerging markets desirable but not required
  • Strong problem solving skills. Detail oriented.
  • Collaborative, enjoy working with stakeholders cross region and cross functional business partners
  • Strong project management and implementation capabilities. Solid time and priority management skills, including managing across multiple initiatives effectively and prioritizing accordingly without losing track of the end goal
  • Knowledge of SQL and AI is desirable but not a must
  • Proven skills and experience in Microsoft computer applications; must be strong at Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint/ Pivot table.
  • Critical thinking skills. Solid reading comprehension skill and mathematically proficient
  • Knowing project management applications such as confluence/Smartsheets/Appian or equivalent is desirable
  • Able to learn by observation and through practice.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Economics. Minimum of 4 years of proven experience.
  • Able to work independently, can take on request from start to finish.


PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
