Job Description
Summary About the Position: This position is located with in the Safety Division with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. Responsibilities In this position, the incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Chief, Safety and Occupational Health Office (SOHO). The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing information to prepare reports or statistics as needed. The incumbent of this position provides technical and administrative support to Safety and Occupational Health Office employees on Safety Program and financial matters. Responsible for independently creating, amending, and tracking training, credit card and contractual documents and related information. Responsible for assisting Chief, SOHO with initiating, tracking, and managing the annual budget, to include establishing work items and labor codes. Processes travel orders, as well as Temporary Duty (TDY) and local travel vouchers. Responsible for ensuring invoices are accurate and processed appropriately. Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and distributes as required through inter- office communications. Utilize computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and/or Microsoft Word to create reports, presentations, or spreadsheets. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes meeting TWO OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) Perform administrative duties such as, processing time and attendance records and/ or preparing travel arrangements; 2) prepare, edit, and/or format documents and letters; 3) maintain an electronic database in order to gather correspondence and/or compile reports; and 4) Utilize a financial management system to gather data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Database Administration Education / Training Program Administration Manages and Organizes Information Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
