Office & Human Resources Assistant

The School of Animal Sciences is seeking an Office & Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support to the faculty and departmental programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for hiring and maintaining personnel records for staff and wage employees using TImeClock Plus and Banner, as well as recruitment in PageUp for salaried staff and wage positions, including the processing of I9’s as well as onboarding new employees through the New Hire Center. The incumbent will provide backup support with the processing of J-1 visa paperwork for international visiting scientists and hiring paperwork when applicable. Assistance with conference planning and scheduling will occasionally be needed.
Required Qualifications
Experience in support of the operation of a professional office environment; Knowledge and expertise with the Microsoft Office Suite; Strong, effective communication skills with a diverse clientele base; Experience working cooperatively with coworkers and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Page Up, TimeClock Plus and HR processes, including P14A appointments, I9 processing; Familiarity with the process to employ foreign nationals. Familiarity with Page Up, Banner, New Hire Center, Hokie Spa, TimeClock Plus; Knowledge of HokieMart procedures and systems.
