Position Overview:
Freddie Mac has emerged as one of the nation's largest affordable housing lenders and the structured underwriting and credit group has introduced, and continues to introduce, many innovative financial products into the market to provide liquidity, stability, and affordability to a wide range of lenders and borrowers that support the multifamily housing market

Our Impact:
- Structured underwriting and credit group structures and underwrites complex transactions that involve pooling multifamily mortgages and crafting pool level credit improvements including subordination or retained securities. Structured transactions traditionally fall outside the parameters of the Optigo Network flow business, but still align with Freddie’s core credit principals
- Our team specializes in thinking creatively to meet customers’ affordable debt financing needs
- Structured Products cover many Multifamily asset classes, including conventional, affordable, seniors housing, manufactured housing, and student housing
Your Impact:
- Assist Management with various tasks, projects, or new initiatives
- Evaluate proposed loans and pooled transactions for credit risk and make recommendations to deal approver
- Become a subject matter expert in Structured Product offerings and our underwriting and due diligence process; act as a resource for internal and external business partners
- Responsible for conducting cash flow analysis, market analysis, review of third-party reports, perform site inspections and review of borrower financial position
- Work with producers to structure deals and provide solutions for complex issues
- Act as transaction lead and primary underwriting contact for external clients
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Modeling skills are a big plus)
- Ability to travel domestically on occasion
- Understanding and familiarity with working with large data sets, securitization, or CMBS process
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Community Development or related field
- 1-3 years of Multifamily underwriting experience with an interest in affordable housing
Keys to Success in this Role:
- Attention to detail and ability to complete assignments to a high quality within prescribed parameters
- Conduct property inspections whether, virtual or in-person, using Happyco
- Ability to analyze and produce complete Investment Brief using the FM Boilerplate with minimal direct supervision
- Understanding of the commitment process and how to draft a commitment
- Participate in internal and external training opportunities and draft training decks with supervision
- Optimally communicate with Optigo Lenders in a professional and timely manner
- Help to train and mentor incoming associates, senior analysts and analysts
- Consensus among Professionals and above that underwriter can optimally operate at the Associate level
- Work collaboratively with production, UDS, asset management, legal and RDC throughout the life of the loan

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $90,000 - $134,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.-
