What You Will Do
As part of the management group, the Manufacturing Operations Manager will direct and coordinate all activities concerning the production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of manufacturing machines and equipment. Working within a Manufacturing / Assembly staff, the Manufacturing Operations Manager will plan, develop and coordinate machining and/or assembly procedures and goals through the management of subordinate departmental personnel.
How You Will Do It

• Provide leadership and direction in the continuous improvement of the manufacturing operations through employee involvement in the implementation of Lean manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma techniques (DMAIC) and kaizen events aligned with the overall strategy of the company.
• Revise production schedules and operation levels in accordance with contingency plans as needed to minimize delays in production due to equipment failure or production problems.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of a manufacturing shop floor that processes materials for the manufacturing/assembly of products within the facility.
• Direct assigned engineering personnel in order to modify machine and equipment specifications that will improve production and quality of products utilizing Process Excellence Tools of Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC).
• Ensure compliance of standard operation procedures and practices is maintained.
• Enforces compliance of operations personnel relating to administrative procedures, safety rules and company regulations.
• Analyze departmental reports and data to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and other operation and production problems.
• Directs production orders or schedules in order to plan department operations.
• Demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with the JCI Safety Program, OSHA, JCI Environmental Program and the EPA. Provide leadership and direction in instilling a safety and environmental compliance culture validated through JCI and local audits and continued improvements in safety & environmental metrics.
• Develop and maintain an effective departmental organization with respect to personnel. Ensure all subordinates understand the responsibility-authority-accountability of their position.
• Ensure compliance with and implementation of Company policies, procedures, plans and objectives within the production department.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance in assembling of products to meet Engineering specifications.
• Initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
• Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products using knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities and labor.

Required
What we look for

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment in progressive managerial positions.
• Strong servant leadership experience and characteristics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or MET, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Business/Operations Management.
• Experience in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5s, and Six Sigma techniques including cellularized work teams, Continuous Improvement, single piece flow systems, TQM, Kanban material flow, etc.
• Demonstrable skills of a high level of emotional intelligence in the workplace.

Preferred

• Strong project management skills.
• Experience with engineered products, including metalworking, machining, assembly and testing.
