Job Description
SUMMARY:


This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual to join a well-established, faith-based manufacturer and distributor offering innovative storage and organizational solutions. The Manufacturing Operations Manager (MOM) is designated as a critical impact role to lead all Manufacturing Operations, including Production, Planning, Materials, and Facilities, for the Fort Worth, Texas plant. The MOM will collaborate with company leaders to set strategy, define targets and ultimately drive operational performance to meet organizational goals. The MOM will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of all manufacturing-related activities of the organization. He or she will lead the team that will drive bottom-line performance and improve service while creating a world-class highly efficient operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Effectively work with the Supply Chain team to establish and drive working capital improvement programs that are consistent with current and future marketing strategies.
  • Manage and oversee annual Operations planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting. Establishes long-term plans for sustainable year-over-year growth. Monitor cascaded KPIs and identify gaps, trends, and actions for improvement to ensure expected goals support the overall business.
  • Lead the procurement function to develop manufacturing and capacity strategies that optimize scheduling to minimize cost and inventory while ensuring flawless customer service. Ensure inventory processes at the shop floor level are developed and maintained to drive a high level of accuracy.
  • Develop, implement, and drive innovation and continuous improvement strategies in productivity, quality, safety, inventory, material planning, cost control, cost reduction, scheduling, and vendor relationships at the manufacturing facility to meet customer satisfaction goals. Document and standardize processes. Monitor and conduct regular process improvement reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and justify capital projects and purchase of new technology or equipment necessary to improve overall plant productivity that aligns with business goals and strategy. Analyze the needs and optimal use of capital resources as well as the efficient deployment of such resources.
  • Oversee reporting of performance metrics such as daily production, inventories, shop floor control, defects, scrap, and customer-focused objectives, as well as provide solutions for improvement. Ensure the ERP program is leveraged to drive business and is utilized properly by all participating employees.
  • Interface and collaborate with all departments to ensure proper scheduling of plant equipment and employees to meet customer requirements and communicate solutions to management and sales and marketing team when issues arise.
  • Assess talent and build a strong team while developing new capabilities in the operations organization to meet current and growth strategies.
  • Execute effectual leadership by building effective relationships with the manufacturing operations team and senior leadership through excellent communications and engagement.
  • Achieve operational objectives through direct oversite and empowerment of the managers and their teams while maintaining a hands-on role in the day-to-day monitoring of activities and providing guidance as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal laws.
  • Execute excellence in the areas of leadership, teamwork, employee engagement, processes, manufacturing flexibility, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and execution of operational strategies and goals that drive a continuous improvement culture to support overall company business strategy and initiatives.
  • Champion ongoing operational improvements and support efforts to transition from a corrective to a preventive culture.
  • Achieve and maintain maximum efficiency levels to support the cost of goods sold projections. Develop and maintain all resources for sales demand.
  • Ensure planning and budgeting systems/processes are accurate with regard to timeliness, financial forecasts, and actuals and resource planning.

Education & Experience Requirements


  • Experience in the areas of process automation, material flow, manufacturing cost reduction, quality improvement programs and safety management.
  • 3+ years’ experience in leading all parts of plant operations including manufacturing, industrial engineering, quality, conversion, supply chain and distribution experience preferred. Deep knowledge of contemporary tools, manufacturing processes, warehouse and shipping best practices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in Business or preferably Industrial Engineering from an accredited four-year college or technical school.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to drive innovation through education, respect and collaboration. Proven experience with LEAN methods and Kaizen preferred.
  • Create and implement strategic and operations plans to support organizational goals.
  • Exceptionally strong communication (written and verbal), analytical, and management skills to lead a diverse group forward. Must have an effective ability to follow-up and follow-thru.
  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to compile and utilize data and/or Lean methods for problem-solving and decision-making to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must be technology savvy and have experience with ERP, MRP or other integrated scheduling software systems preferred.
  • Assertive self-starter who can motivate others with strong sense of urgency and energy level in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Strong planning, resourcing and effective delegation skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and ability to talk and hear customers and employees via phone or in person. Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Body motor skills to enable movement from office to office and to climb stairs to the production facility.
