Job Description

Aspen Aerogels® is a rapidly growing aerogel technology company founded in 2001 to capitalize on patented advances in aerogel manufacturing. Aspen’s extensive portfolio of proprietary aerogel products are manufactured at scale and sold worldwide in the Electric Vehicle, Energy Infrastructure, Sustainable Building Materials, and Power Generation industries. Aspen is a Tier 1/2 Automotive supplier of PyroThin® thermal barriers, and our Pyrogel® and Cryogel® insulation products are used by virtually all leading petrochemical and refining company across more than 50 countries. Plans and executes product distribution systems to manage imports/exports between Aspen’s source of supply within the global network. Optimizes delivery routes, shipments, and just-in-time product delivery from a mix of Aspen’s and 3PL’s distribution centers.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain documentation for all policies, processes, and procedures in the supply chain, logistics, and freight management area to ensure consistent practices and maintain efficiencies and economies of scale; ensure documentation is up-to-date and easy to access.
  • Evaluate and assess existing business systems and processes with the role to identify, recommend, and implement procedural changes with the goal of minimizing inefficiencies and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Adopt and follow Aspen’s core values of Safety, Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer and Innovation on both a personal and professional level.
  • Supervise daily warehouse and shipping operations, including training of employees, routing, inventory, quality assurance, dispatching, documentation, compliance, and other assistance as needed to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Develop and oversee processes for the management of transportation initiatives, including liaising between transport companies, negotiating contracts, coordinating deliveries, and enforcing deadlines, implementing 3PL onboarding programs, sourcing new carriers, and ensuring compliance with international commercial terms (INCOTERMS).
  • Support the corporate Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders including commercial operations, procurement, and supply planning prioritizing urgent shipments while ensuring 100% on-time delivery adhering to customs’ routing instructions.
  • Manage inventory control to minimize shrinkage, damages, ensure proper storage and rotation, and verify proper packaging and handling procedures.
  • Build and track cost and productivity metrics and KPIs to drive cost savings, service improvements, and progress toward operational targets.
  • Oversee and audit compliance and recordkeeping programs and facilitate timely delivery and accuracy of required paperwork and documentation, classification programs, import/export compliance, supply chain security laws, quotes, transportation contracts, LTL/FTL shipment tracking, customs bonds, and customs duty and VAT payments.
  • Explain and enhance logistics operations, systems, and data; add customs valuation expertise and support for supply chain and import/export cross-functional discussions.
  • Onboard and train internal and external (3PL) team members, including shipping and warehouse personnel. Supervise and train external partners, such as Customs Broker, on internal policies as needed.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in transportation and trade compliance, preferably in a manufacturing environment or in the chemical or automotive industry
  • Demonstration of excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to relate with all levels within an organization.
  • Experience with a formal transportation management or warehouse management system (e.g.: SAP, Oracle)
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Export compliance certification a plus
  • Experience in the APAC and EMEA geographic regions a plus
