Responsibilities
Provides operational leadership support to Mayo Clinic Schools and Education programs. Applies leadership skills and operational expertise to assist in planning and implementing management strategies that attain institutional and site Education goals. Provides an operational perspective to departmental and program decisions, which integrate Education with Clinical Practice and Research. Participates in financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting and monitoring of Education resources. In partnership with the Operations Administrator, the Operations Manager is responsible for achieving operational excellence through coaching and mentoring the team; driving employee engagement and building leadership capabilities. This also includes being responsible for the operational infrastructure, systems, processes, and procedures that are necessary for maintaining and continuously improving operational efficacy by ensuring adequate controls are in place, are effective, and are being utilized for the school’s/business unit’s vulnerable/critical processes. Communicates ideas, coaches, mentors and facilitates employment and performance management of Education personnel. Implements policies that comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, and are consistent with other Mayo policies. Maintains an understanding of education regulations and accreditation requirements to assure that Mayo programs gain accreditation and remain accredited. Establishes relationships with external agencies and organizations to enhance knowledge of the education environment and visibility of Mayo's Education programs. Provides administrative leadership and follow-through to committees responsible for Education activities and participates on other committees or task forces as assigned. Serves as operations manager for Education units and activities as assigned; e.g., International Personnel Office, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Humanities in Medicine, International Education, Education Supervisors Group, etc. Serves as a key member of the leadership team with a primary focus on implementation of policies and systems. Facilitates project and quality management while leading a multidisciplinary team including financial analysis, problem solving, and team collaboration. Regulates staffing in accordance with fluctuating workload. Partners in the support of department projects, policy implementation, and serves as a primary resource for issues and communications. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling a variety of management issues.
This position is a combination of remote and onsite support work. Individual must live within driving distance to the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus.
**Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field and at least five years of professional experience in a clinical or administrative healthcare area, of which two years must have been in management/supervision. Prefer Master's degree in Business, Healthcare or related field and two years healthcare management experience with strong leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, i.e., physician, scientist, career educator, administrative, supervisory, allied health staff, residents, fellows, students and learners. Doctorate degree may also be preferred if applicable. Clinical degree and licensure if applicable. Must have excellent communication, organizational and human relation skills. Requires excellent decision-making and judgment capabilities. Must have broad based knowledge of office support and computer systems along with spreadsheets, databases, statistics, software knowledge and installation, and accounting practices for budgetary responsibilities. Demonstrated human relations skills, ability to work effectively as a member of a management team and must relate effectively with students, faculty, and administration. Experience in innovative program development and planning. The individual must exhibit the following characteristics: a strong customer focus, foster mutual respect, support Mayo's commitment to diversity, practice and promote teamwork, perform independently, maintain confidentiality, adhere to high standards of personal conduct and maintain and enhance professional/job competency. Experience in higher education administration preferred.
