Transamerica is organized by lines of business (Life Insurance, Annuities, Mutual Funds, Retirement Plans, Employee Benefits, and Financial Assets), which are supported by Transamerica Corporate (Corporate Development; Finance; Internal Audit; Legislative, Regulatory & Policy; Office of the CEO; People, Places & Brand; Risk; and Technology).
Summary
Provides day-to-day supervision (administrative and technical) to a staff of Claims Examiners, whose primary tasks are the evaluation, processing, and payment or denial of claims. Exercises approval authority greater than subordinates but within established guidelines. Multiple product lines are processed.

Transamerica may offer positions at different job levels including, but not limited to, base, intermediate, senior, lead, etc. Offers will be based on candidate’s relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.
Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and monitor relationships with outside investigative firms and death claim payments through banks.
  • Serves as a technical resource to subordinates and others in the organization.
  • Reviews work in progress as well as conducts audits to insure quality. Involved in State Insurance Dept. audits.
  • Assist and maintain claim loss and reserve records and report on claims in relationship to company business and industry standards.
  • Maintain positive, proactive relationships with our clients, agents and other internal departments to meet service objectives.
  • Plans and organizes the work of Examiners.
  • In collaboration with Vice President, establish overall department budget; allocate resources within department; manage department activities to budget. Involved in various projects involving the system, acquiring business, etc.
  • Reviews more complex cases and settles or initiates further action within approved authority limits.
  • Involved in fraud identification and training. Testifies at depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Handles personnel actions including interviewing, hiring, firing, performance reviews, salary recommendations, and coordinates training and development. Enforce company rules fairly and impartially.
  • Monitors performance, progress, schedules, and costs.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstration of management ability.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of claims experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong preference for prior Transamerica experience and/or knowledge of Transamerica Operations.
  • Ability to research and interpret information for the completion of claims as well as projects; self-starter; ability to multi-task.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Leadership skills which fosters an environment of respect, support, and growth within team and peers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Your working location designation is Remote. Remote means that you will not be expected to work from a Company office location on a routine basis. When not working in a Company office location, you will be expected to work from your home or other approved workspace in the U.S.

The salary for this position generally ranges between $77,000 - $102,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
