Land Acquisition Specialist
Position Description
American Power Realty is seeking multiple experienced Land Acquisition Specialists to join our growing team. The position is eligible for a remote arrangement strategically located in either the Eastern, Central, or Western regions of the US and will be a key member of APR’s team. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, results-oriented, have a positive attitude and a track record of executing successful land acquisition campaigns. The position will report to APR’s Senior Director of Land Use.

Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site visits to prospective sites to meet with landowners and local community and evaluate site qualifications
- Generate significant leads on land parcels that meet APR’s acquisition criteria
- Ability to negotiate and obtain easements and Right of Ways for APR projects.
- Utilize siting and research tools that include but not limited to GIS databases, property tax records, utility hosting maps, environmental databases and other information sources to perform site due diligence on land parcels to determine if they meet APR’s acquisition criteria
- Manage and lead the land acquisition process for utility scale solar and energy storage projects by working with landowners and other external parties to secure site control for utility scale solar and energy storage projects
- Support the Land Use teams in evaluating new markets and opportunities
- Maintain a deep understanding of regulatory, policy, and market forces in the US regions in which APR is developing projects
- Prepare, negotiate, manage, and review site control documents including purchase, option and lease agreements and easements, and memorandums.
- Build strong relationships with landowners, local municipalities, commercial real estate agents, and other parties to add to the backlog of APR’s land acquisition portfolio
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 - years experience in land acquisitions
- Proven track record of success and highly motivated and experience working with internal and external land acquisition teams
- Excellent negotiation, verbal and written communication skills
- Real Estate Associate or Brokers license or years of experience in land acquisition and has experience with real estate, energy, engineering, environmental science, construction management, real estate law, economics, business administration, or similar fields
- Proficient in GIS, mapping tools, land - use, siting tools, electricity markets, land acquisition contracts (property agreements such as options, leases, purchases, easements, deeds) and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF.
- Travel required within your region may be required (must have valid driver license)
- Independent and resourceful leader that is proficient in overseeing several complex projects concurrently and accomplishing priorities
- Strong experience in site selection for large scale project development, preferably in community or utility scale solar and battery storage systems
- Track record of excelling in a high-growth and dynamic organization is preferred
