Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to join the Finance team. This position is located in our New York office.
Job Overview:
The Junior Financial Analyst will work within the Finance department providing support to the Medical Communications Group, Business Media Division, and Central Service areas. The successful applicant will be proactive, motivated, highly numerate, proficient in Excel, detail-oriented and a self-starter. This role will work with the Finance department to partner with business leaders to help support financial planning, forecasting/budgeting, analytics and reporting across the organization. You will contribute to the success of the department and organization by being a proactive contributor who creates actionable insights through financial planning, analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Access and navigate financial systems to conduct research and run reports
- Provide financial support across various departments to analyze and identify key drivers of risks and opportunities to help maintain an accurate monthly forecast
- Review monthly financial results against budget/forecast to provide variance analysis
- Conduct ad hoc analysis at the request of senior executives as needed
- Work closely with accounting during month-end close to understand monthly activity and help ensure all relevant revenue and cost accruals are recorded correctly
- Develop reports and templates to be used in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial analyses
- Help support the budgeting/forecasting process by working with department heads to receive/provide proper information in a timely manner and to ensure deadlines are met
- Support the Finance team with monthly close process including timely preparation of journal entries, revenue and cost reconciliation, financial statements, and variance analysis
- Gain a deeper understanding of results to help provide the business with insight into the potential future financial implications/impacts based on future decisions
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong communication skills
- 1-2 years’ work experience
- Salesforce experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Excellent analytical, multi-tasking and time management skills
- Detail oriented

- The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
