Job Description
We’re on a mission to create a diverse group of future leaders. We do that through professional apprenticeships because we believe learning on-the-job creates a more equitable and successful path to careers. We find, train and support talented individuals, wherever they are in their career journey, and equip them with the in-demand tech, software engineering, and data skills to transform their careers and deliver a better route to growth for their employers.

We’ve had some big achievements. We hit 10,000 apprentices in our community - and counting. We launched one of the largest data apprenticeship programs in the UK with Jaguar Land Rover, and we’ve partnered with companies like Mars, Verizon and CitiBank. Not to forget becoming a mission-driven EdTech unicorn after our $220m Series D.

But we aren’t stopping here. Join Multiverse and build the future of learning at work.

The Opportunity

As our Global Finance Controller, you will be responsible for the robust reporting of the company’s performance and ensuring comprehensive controls are maintained and improved as we continue to scale. This is a highly visible role and will be pivotal in the development of the finance and wider team.

Specifically, you will:

  • Plan, design, and execute complex projects, while collaborating effectively with other cross-functional teams globally
  • Represent the accounting department at board meetings
  • Organize and update financial records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop strong peer and stakeholder relationships and maintain effective communication
  • Lead the company through industry changes and evolving regulatory requirements and current tax and accounting laws
  • Partner with process owners and other key stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and document process improvement opportunities that increase productivity, efficiency, quality, or employee satisfaction
  • Regularly prepare and examine financial statements and ensure they are accurate, free of errors, and in compliance with our accounting standards
  • Recruit, manage, and oversee all accounting departments and related operations
  • Analyze accounts and suggest improvements to reduce costs, increase efficiency, remove manual touchpoints, and increase profits
  • Manage, mentor, and develop team members
  • Manage the external auditor relationship, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews, and act as a liaison to internal auditors
  • Work closely with IT and key business owners to drive key system initiatives and improvements
  • Document current and future state processes and requirements; lead the evolution to future state
  • Develop and present executive level presentations with clear and concise recommendations
  • Ensure information systems and solutions are appropriate for the volume and complexity of transactions as well as for analyzing and reporting financial data, including data analytics and data visualization

About you:

  • Bonus points if you have prior experience leading or supporting a NetSuite implementation!
  • You will have had positions of increasing responsibility and scope, preferably in the fast-paced software and technology industry with exposure to broad accounting and functional responsibilities.
  • You are a CPA with over 10 years PQE, and ideally come from a practice trained background at a “Big 4” firm.
  • You have managed a team successfully - improving team efficiency, performance, and morale. Ideally, you’ve done this in an evolving business, like ours!
  • You are a proactive, influential, and dynamic character who enjoys working within a transforming and fast paced business.
  • You will be a resourceful self-starter who thrives in ambiguous situations. Above all you will be a team player and have the desire to be hands on in the role.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, and can build relationships at all levels with ease. You will be comfortable delivering complex financial information in a clear and concise way and presenting at Board level.
