Position Summary
The Samsung SPG (strategic partnership group) team is looking for a Manager of Financial Operations to assist with the team’s financial operations. This high visibility and critical function will focus on tracking partner revenue reports and payments, measuring and monitoring the performance trends, and frequently collaborating with our global finance team and internal partner managers on forecasting. They will also be responsible for maintaining customer and vendor relationships, revamping our onboarding process, and working with key stakeholders to improve revenue-tracking databases, dashboards, and workflows.
The Manager will collaborate closely with key stakeholders from Samsung Headquarters (located in South Korea) on reporting cadence and communication. They will ensure accurate reporting and payments on time and help to create standardized and automated processes that will help enable department growth. The candidate we are seeking is a highly organized individual that can navigate complex reporting structures with ease.
Role And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with corporate accounting, tax, HR and legal to help ensure best business practices in all faucets
- Set up and monitor workflow on various modules and resolve troubleshoot needs
- Standardize and improve upon existing onboarding processes through cross-functional project management with our internal finance, business operations, and partner analytics teams
- Financial Performance Optimization: Work with Directors to understand operational factors impacting financials and develop solutions to ensure financial targets are optimized in support of top and bottom line performance. Recommend ways to increase revenue, decrease cost or improve effectiveness.
- Participate in annual business planning for various business units
- Support accounting operation and audit in the areas of revenue recognition, expense accruals, amortizations, cost allocation and month-end closing
- Create and manage various monthly financial report to track financial performance on our investments and resources
- Act as liaison to the business teams to provide guidance on finance policies, set up data reconciliation processes, and help resolve financial operational issues
- Collect, prepare, track and analyze financial data to support partner reporting for various internal stakeholders
- Create monthly tracking report for management digest and review
- Support various strategic initiatives geared towards improving operational efficiency
- Partner with various functional groups and business teams to build viable performance reporting methods and reconciliation processes
Skills And Qualifications
- Enterprise Application experience a plus
- Reads, interprets, and acts on proper understanding of accounting and financial documents based on corporate business financial philosophy. Ability to communicate in writing, through email, reports, or orally, accounting and financial reporting matters.
- Ability to understand the business and read behind the numbers to produce actionable insights
- Ability to complete assignments within the established timeframe and the specifications
- Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
- Ability to navigate through difficult situations and determine appropriate course of action
- Ability to automate processes as applicable that improves operational efficiency and resource allocation
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to work towards achieving common business goals
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that can be leveraged to develop excellent working relationship and partnership with all internal as well as external stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple assignments and projects and perform them under limited supervision
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting or relevant field required
- Preferred: knowledge of streaming service payment tiers (AVOD, SVOD, TVOD) and reporting
- At least 7+ years of experience in financial management, business analysis or accounting preferred
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with other MS products helpful
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking Korean language a plus
For candidates based in New York City or California, compensation for this role is expected to be between $110,000 and $150,000 + bonus. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
