The Role

As The Project Accountant you will be responsible for providing commercial contract administration through project invoicing, reporting and data entry and additionally provide order processing support. Responsible for the WIP and AX12 Projects Module. (from validating job setup accuracy to job completion).

You will be based out of our Houston office located at 8880 Telephone Rd. Houston, TX 77061. This position reports to accounting/finance and interacts heavily with VPs, Directors, Constructions & Field Services, Operations Manager, Project Managers and Finance Department. Project Accountant is expected to work with sales and operations as a business partner offering analysis and guidance.

What You Will Do

• Calculate and post accrual entries as required for percentage-of-completion estimates and accruals.
• Update project costs as determined by health reports, new purchase orders received and change orders.
• Review project manager health reports comparing actual system costs to estimated costs to complete and perform analysis and procedures to validate and update costs. Specifically follow up on large differences, extreme loss in gross margin and loss contracts.
• All other duties as required by the manager and company's day to day business operation.
• Develop revenue and cost of sales forecasting and budgeting with corporate finance, accounting and SBU management.
• Calculate project commissions monthly.
• Determine which projects are subject to monthly health reports requirements.
• Develop and maintain project reporting and updates with VP, USLAM and Operations Manager in the Houston office.
• Run period WIP reports out of AX12 and review project revenues and costs to complete.
• Post hours & per diem expense journals weekly for weekly & bi-weekly payroll.
• Consult and build a rapport with project managers for systematic, timely and consistent job updates via email, office visits, etc.

Knowledge And Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering is preferred.
• Experience working with financial systems is required.
• Previous work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented and deadline driven work environment is a plus.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
• Minimum of 2-3 years work experience as Project Accountant, Contract Review, SOX compliance, audits and accounting/finance-related field is required.
