General Ledger Accountant Jobs

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the General Ledger Accountant include, but are not limited to:

• Execute other accounting duties as needed
• Maintain strict confidentiality of highly sensitive information
• Assist in preparing and filing all applicable federal, state, and/or local tax and reporting requirements
• Initiate and complete monthly and annual financial closing processes for all necessary accounts
• Align general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting
• Maintain and reconcile AFMBC’s balance sheet
• Maintain the integrity of Antioch’s general ledger, including the preparation, verification, and input of all journal entries, as well as ensuring all account balances are correct
• Analyze all reconciliations and financial data to identify critical issues or deficiencies and provide financial recommendations and/or process solutions
• Review cash deposits and prepare and post cash receipt journal entries
• Initiate and complete monthly reconciliations of all general ledger accounts, cash deposits, and AFMBC bank accounts
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to analyze financial data
• Experience learning and maneuvering accounting software and online platforms
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and organizational information
• Strong data entry skills, including 10 key, demonstrating speed and accuracy
• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability, including the ability to identify, research, solve and communicate financial discrepancies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
• Understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Work Experience

• At least three years of related work experience in business, accounting or finance
