Job Description
GitHub is looking for a creative, detail-oriented Internal Communications Manager to lead programs and events that keep our employees (“Hubbers”) informed, inspired, and connected to GitHub’s mission, vision, and culture.

As a member of the Internal and Executive Communications team, you will have a unique opportunity to enhance employee experience at GitHub as our business grows and evolves in the age of AI. This role will oversee important communication and culture channels for a global, remote-first and asynchronous company, including but not limited to internal and executive events and more. You’ll help drive shared understanding of company priorities and business strategy by leading and producing an integrated strategy across internal experiences for real-time and asynchronous engagement. You will also create and drive a measurement and impact strategy for internal channels including global Slack channels, company intranet and more.

As the right candidate, you are comfortable operating in a role with multiple partners and senior-level stakeholders. You are unflappable in a high-pressure environment, and know how to pivot quickly and adapt to tight deadlines. You understand the power of global storytelling remotely and can “connect the dots” among disparate topics and initiatives. You are energized by the opportunity to curate unique digital and offsite experiences for a remote-first workforce. You have strong instincts and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all elements of live internal events, from agenda development and theming to logistical coordination, day-of execution, and reporting.
  • Create a strategy for extending the reach of internal events via other media, channels, and content, to increase touchpoints with Hubbers and drive retention of messages.
  • Work directly with executives and their teams on programming and storytelling, while partnering closely with the broader communications team (including Executive Comms, Corporate Comms, International Comms, and Presentation Design) to ensure alignment with timely topics and GitHub’s corporate narrative.
  • Develop thoughtful content and communications campaigns designed to educate Hubbers about GitHub’s company priorities and business strategy, and drive deep connection to our culture and leadership principles.
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate relevant metrics to leadership to demonstrate event effectiveness and drive ongoing, iterative improvement.
  • Create enablement content that empowers leaders and communications partners to integrate business priorities and employee experience into events, meetings, and initiatives throughout the business.
  • Develop creative ways to engage global viewers working in an asynchronous, remote-first environment.
  • Cultivate communication norms for our evolving company and own best practices for company-wide communications across channels and forums.
  • Create a standard benchmark to measure the effectiveness of internal events, and partner with functional leaders to assess and refine their events and channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience leading large scale projects demonstrating strong program management skills.
  • Experience managing multi-channel communication strategies and content that can transcend mediums and resonate with diverse, global audiences.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in internal/employee communications.
  • Experience working with a global and geographically distributed company.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience running internal or external events, including storyboarding, production, and measurement. Bonus for experience creating inclusive and accessible experiences.
  • Proven ability to advise on communications strategy to all levels of the organization and drive consensus across a diverse set of stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to change in a complex, fast-paced organization.
  • Experience in the software development and/or technology industries.

Minimum salary of $73,500 to maximum $195,000
