POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for helping mold the future of Laurel Springs School as an online, private school that delivers learning experiences in new and innovative ways. One of the primary responsibilities is helping to build and support next-generation digital experiences for our students and parents.
We’re looking for a Marketing and Communications Copywriter to help articulate and invigorate the voice of the Laurel Springs brand—by developing, writing, and editing high-quality strategic content. By elevating our copy, the person in this role will help build broader awareness of Laurel Springs School and support efforts to improve organic search.
The Marketing and Communications Copywriter will collaborate with various staff members and departments to write, edit, and prepare for production a variety of communications directed toward both external and internal audiences. You should excel at simplifying complex topics into concise, compelling marketing copy and be a flexible and collaborative go-getter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the difference between writing for advertising, websites, and brochures while maintaining brand standards and voice. Most of all, you revel in the craft of writing and editing, thrive on deadlines, and know what it takes to get marketing copy just right.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize SEO Tools (SEM Rush, SEOClarity, etc.) to identify and measure new opportunities to optimize existing content or create new content for better organic traffic.
- Fast learner who can adapt to change seamlessly.
- Develop content and communications for advertising and campaign-specific marketing initiatives based on seasonality and admission cycles.
- Work closely with the cross-functional teams to ensure the goals of the deliverable are met.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and how to maximize Laurel Springs website indexing and ranking.
- Create copy for multiple channels, including websites, social media channels, landing pages, email campaigns, advertising, print, etc.
- Develop ideas into program executions, offering innovative concepts or approaches utilizing multiple touchpoints in Laurel Springs Marketing channels for engagement.
- Proofread and edit content before submitting final drafts, checking for clarity, style consistency, spelling, and grammar.
- Responsible for taking projects from conception through completion, acting as the single point of contact for those projects, participating in brainstorming sessions, and crafting compelling messages to convey a concept and support a design.
- Develop Marketing collateral, retention communications, email messaging for multiple segments, online digital assets, and subject matter expert white papers.
- Create engaging copy that is consistent with the brand message and editorial standards
- Continually evolve Laurel Springs’ best practices and writing processes to achieve high efficiency and performance.
- Generate scripts used for Laurel Springs video assets
- Maintain a high awareness of communication trends, new and emerging technologies and platforms, and trends in the private school and online education industries.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong written communication and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by a creative work portfolio showcasing love and powerful command of the English language, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Mass Communications Creative Writing, or Advertising.
- Articulate and advocate for work clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
- Work collaboratively and share ideas effectively across teams.
- Articulate a point of view that helps shape the strategic direction of content development.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to accurately complete multiple projects while priorities shift from one to another with sometimes competing deadlines.
- Be proactive in generating ideas and anticipating the needs of the department and company.
- 3+ years of experience with copywriting and content creation in advertising, digital marketing, journalism, or publishing.
- Ability to travel 10-20%.
