Information Technology Technician I, Ii, Iii

• Maintain records of problems and actions taken
• Troubleshoot malfunctions to identify and resolve breakdowns and performance problems relate to telephone, network, and cable infrastructure
• Configure workstations and ensure the proper installation if cables, telephone systems, hardware and software
• Install, operate, test, maintain, and repair telephone hardware, software, networking systems, peripheral equipment, and telecommunications systems
• Test, diagnose, and repair specialized telephone equipment, computer, and telephone cabling infrastructure, and telecommunications systems at various sites
• Coordinate the repair and/or replacement of telephone equipment and telecommunications systems
• Respond to questions from users and provide on-site and remote user support telephone, network, and cable infrastructure

• Two (2) years of experience involved in operating, installing, monitoring, testing and maintaining computer network systems in the area of either peripheral equipment, computer software or telecommunication systems. Completion of 12 semester units in computer or a related information technology discipline may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

• One (1) year of experience performing duties equivalent to an Information Technology Technician I

• Two (2) years of related experience plus completion of 12 semester units in computer or a related information technology discipline. Completion of additional coursework above 12 semester units in computer or a related information technology discipline may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

• One (1) year of experience performing duties equivalent to an Information Technology Technician II

• Knowledge of Systimax structured cable infrastructure, fiber optics cables, Cisco Unified Communication Manager systems, Cisco Unity voice mail systems, C-Cure 9000 system, Johnson Controls CK721 controllers, Eaton 9170+ uninterruptable systems, and IMS-4000 systems.
• Extensive experience installing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber optic cables.

• A wide variety of computer, peripheral, and telecommunication systems
• Capabilities and operational procedures used in Information Technology
• Electronic theory and principles
• Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair procedures for a wide variety of computer and telecommunication peripherals

• Minimize disruption and downtime when performing troubleshooting and repair tasks
• Read technical manuals
• Use and operate computer and telecommunication hardware and software
• Detect and correct a wide range of problems using various diagnostic tools
• Monitor, install, operate and maintain equipment used in Information Technology

Selection Process:

• All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
• Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
• The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 40%, and an interview weighted at 60%.
• The written exam for the first round of qualified applicants is scheduled for the week of August 21.
