POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Technician’s role is to maintain and improve the computer and data systems that GC Packaging employees use to perform their jobs. This position is primarily an end-user facing role, so strong customer service and communication skills are essential to success. Logical reasoning and troubleshooting skills will be used frequently to diagnose user issues, find a solution, and implement it in a timely manner. In addition, the IT Technician will be a part of a multi-purpose IT team, learning to provide coverage for essential functions of the entire team when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Install desktops, laptops, mobile devices, software, printers, and peripherals for end users in all areas of the Sunnyvale plant.
2. Field user issues and assess the proper course of action to correct any problems they encounter.
3. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to hardware configurations, user device assignments, processes and service records.
4. Provide technical support, training, and assistance to end users with all IT equipment as needed.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
6. Maintain device inventories of peripherals, laptops, desktops, and other IT hardware.
7. Prepare obsolete equipment for disposition decision by the IT Manager.
8. Collaborate with the IT Department and end user representatives to find solutions to daily issues.
9. Keep up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and company needs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. AA/AS degree or higher preferred
3. IT Certifications a plus
4. Minimum 1 year of experience in a technical role
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
• Detail oriented
• Organizational and planning skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• PC Hardware experience required
• Microsoft Windows desktop software experience required
• Active Directory / Azure AD /Group Policy preferred
• WDS/MDT image deployment experience preferred
• Basic networking (Patch cables, reading a port map)
• Multifunction Printers
• Adobe software products
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently as part of a collaborative team
• Professional and courteous attitude
• Ability to perform multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
• Ability to think creatively to solve difficult problems
• Strong Customer Service skills
• Observes safety and security procedures
• Follows instructions and responds to management direction
ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULING:
• Work is performed in an administrative office setting.
• Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary. Normal office hours 8am-5pm M-F. Reasonable adjustments will be made for maintenance windows.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
