This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Health and Wellness Director oversees the development and operations the health and wellness programs to include group exercise, personal training, and wellness related activities.
This position will receive a minimum of 4 weeks Paid-Time Off, Holiday Pay, Full-Time benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, a Retirement 403(b) pension plan upon eligibility and a Free YMCA Household Membership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.
- Maintains equipment and facilities. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.
- Participates in the program cabinets related to the work.
- Attend appropriate and needed training offered by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
- Maintain safe program areas, including indoor and outdoor areas, YMCA and non-YMCA facilities, and equipment.
- Achieve retention goals, as well as growth of goals – income and participation.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent highly preferred.
- Two years supervisory experience.
- Strong relationship driven personality with strong social and communication skills. Must be an expert in providing great member service.
- Excellent interpersonal, public relations and written communication skills are required. Must also be comfortable with oral presentations.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must understand the basic concepts of a voluntary, non-profit organization, as well as the structure of the YMCA as a partnership of volunteers and staff and accept a commitment to the YMCA mission.
- Employee must have working knowledge of a Mac environment, Gmail, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, and Hazardous Communications
- Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen. This position must have the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Must be 21 years of age with a valid drivers license and have the capacity to drive to various locations within the greater San Antonio metropolitan area.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in a fast-paced facility environment. Position requires attending meetings at different off-site locations.
- Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.
- Job requires high levels of alertness and concentration. This position requires analytical abilities and multitasking in order to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.
- Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.
- Incumbent must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, as well as, able to manipulate keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils is essential.
