Head of Sales – Craize

Sr Director or VP


Craize is looking for a scrappy, effective, and ambitious sales leader to bring the Craize brand to the next level. This role is likely best suited to an existing grocery channel director looking to step up into a leadership role in a small, ambitious company.


About Craize

Based on the crisp outer edge of the Venezuelan arepa, Craize takes a modern approach to this Latin American staple by infusing clean yet flavorful ingredients like guava, coconut, and plantain into a slow-toasted cracker. Craize can be dipped, paired, topped, crumbled, or eaten as most do: straight out of the bag! Available in both sweet and savory flavors, you’ll wonder if it’s really a cookie, a cracker, or a chip. Certified Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Vegan, and Kosher.


Craize is in more than 4000 doors across the US. Our focus is on building our US retail presence and growing velocity at key retailers. Our team is hungry and ambitious and has built the business ground up…now it’s time to focus and professionalize the sales strategy.

As such, we’re looking an “athlete” who can help us build our sales organization and be our voice for retailers. We want a passionate, organized, scrappy self-starter who can both ‘think’ and ‘do’.


What you’ll do

  • Partner closely with the Chief Growth Officer to integrate tactical promotional, merchandising and shopper marketing plans within budget realities. Identify secondary and tertiary distribution/placement opportunities and help direct merchandising efforts.
  • Drive velocity by setting and managing promotion strategy by account
  • Partner with supply chain leader and marketing team to support volume, helping to create and activate an S&OP process, manage retail customer service and deliver
  • Vigilantly safeguard the brand integrity and product quality within grocery accounts, including declining sales opportunities where warranted
  • Build and lead future sales function within Craize, including managing, coaching and directing existing team members and identifying future talent and resource requirements
  • Manage and clarify required broker and distributor relationships to enable success. Leverage broker partnerships to build and execute annual plans across the grocery channel
  • Create and activate a clear, cohesive sales strategy going forward, focusing on 10 key accounts in the natural and conventional channels where we have established distribution, and adding select accounts as needed to achieve financial targets
  • Understand data analysis and possess the ability to identify and communicate retailer specific opportunities. Report on key metrics associated with the grocery channel, including revenue, profit, productivity, trade spend
  • Establish extremely strong relationships with key natural and conventional retailers, particularly Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix, as well as key distributors (KeHe and UNFI).
  • Provide input into board meetings, annual strategy and planning processes, and regular forecasting efforts
  • Help drive trade show and event strategy in support of sales goals
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.


Specific Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Knowledge of and strong relationships with retailers and distribution, particularly Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, Ahold, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix and HEB.
  • Demonstrated cultural fit, full of fun, integrity, community, kindness and heart. Humble and service oriented – we’re all working together to make this happen, and everyone wears many hats.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with the data sources and analytics required to support such wholesale accounts, and an ability to drive a sales organization to success using this input.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a sales or retail execution role, ideally demonstrating proven experience growing a startup food brand. Snack food or dry grocery in the conventional channel experience a plus.
  • Results-orientation and self-motivation – you have strong detail and organizational skills, and thrive in fast paced environments and love coming up with solutions, not just raising problems.

  • Full-time, salaried position + variable bonus driven by exceeding sales targets + potential equity compensation

  • Location is flexible; company is HQed in Miami, but customers are nationwide
  • Willingness to travel locally and nationally, including Miami likely 1-2 times per quarter if not based there
