Group Director, Store Design Operations


CHANEL is looking for an Operations Leader to join our Store Design Team in New York. Your immediate task will be to play a leading role in the execution of the Capex effort to renovate our points of sale in the Multi Brand Retailer environment. Future responsibilities will be managing the workflow of a store design team of 10+ designers and looking for opportunities to streamline the way we work. The Store Design Project Manager will be reporting to Head of Store Design. Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in project management, store design, construction management or related industry with a passion for architectural design and the process of creation, project management, and problem solving.

What You Will Bring To The Team...


  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize projects and deadlines, have adept project management skills, attention to detail, understanding of design and architectural process
  • Process and workflow management
  • Experience using project management tools and architectural software (AutoCAD, Sketchup) a plus
  • Self-motivated, diplomatic communicator with excellent interpersonal skills & social fluency. You are autonomous, curious, and rigorous.
  • Collaborating with internal and external resources
  • Fluency in Microsoft teams, Smartsheet, Adobe creative suite
  • Support in the execution of counter installation and renovations
  • Exceptional organization and analytical abilities

Job Responsibilities To Include…


  • Assist the store design team in managing and prioritizing workloads, assign parallel work to cross functional teams, and work with closely other teams to prioritize projects
  • Ensure quality and consistency of processes and protocols within the department (project management, trafficking, staffing, internal/external communication)
  • Partner with the store design team to ensure store designs are aligned with the needs of the Global artistic direction, US business and North America field teams.
  • Lead and facilitate store design project review meetings with various US business divisions.
  • Create process, schedules, and responsibility overview for the various projects, making sure that milestones and deliverables are respected; create and maintain progress reports that control and track; complete risk assessment; responsible for the end-to-end coordination, timelines, consistency, and efficiency of project delivery. Keeping Global and US teams aligned and informed.
  • Compile US Store Design team needs and evolve briefing process. Ensure US store design brief has been completed accurately by field, business, corporate teams and that documentation and project request information is submitted.
  • Carry out retrospectives to analyze and allow constant improvement of our processes.


Position Logistics:


  • 8+ years of experience in architectural firm or retail architectural/ store design/construction management
  • Minimum 3 Days a week in the NYO
  • Travel requirement 15%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or Architecture related field


The anticipated base salary range for this position is $127,000 - $170,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other components will include additional compensation, benefits, and perks.
