Graphic Designer, Branding & Packaging

SUMMARY

King’s Hawaiian is looking for a Packaging Graphic Designer who is passionate about brand marketing and packaging design to join their growing creative team. This designer will be responsible for developing effective, on-brand, and on-strategy creative across the core brand and innovation team. The creative developed will continue to amplify the King’s Hawaiian brand across consumer touchpoints. Employees in this position may interact with their leader several times a week to receive guidance and feedback. This designer will be working closely with the Creative Manager and various Brand Managers to create new product packaging, print, digital and experiential assets for brand campaigns.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design – 60%

1. Responsible for developing packaging designs across the Innovation and Brand teams:
2. Developing preliminary test packaging for new products.
3. Creating mockups to support Innovation and Brand team product testing.
4. Taking packaging designs from initial concept through production.
5. Support in asset development for 360 Brand campaigns:
6. Develop creative to support campaigns within marketing.
7. Create on brand in-store POS assets.
8. Assist in photoshoot production.
9. Assist in creative for internal communications.

Cross functional Collaboration – 30%

1. Work closely with cross-functional teams (Packaging Development, Product Development, & Marketing) to ensure designs are meeting brand guidelines and project objectives.
2. Review production samples from existing print vendors.
3. Evaluate creative from partner agencies to ensure all designs align with brand standards.

Creative File Management – 10%

1. Manage art files and packaging mechanicals for core products and cases.
2. Sync creative assets to digital assets management system.
3. Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or visual communication design from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience required.
• 1-3 years of experience in the food industry a plus.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in brand design and packaging development in CPG field or agency.
• 1-3 years of experience in CPG is preferred.
• Strong portfolio of design work, showing solutions to business problems through effective design and examples of product packaging design.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE)

• Proficient in print and postproduction processes.
• Must be creative, detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible.
• Ability to clearly present design ideas and concepts for campaigns and projects.
• Ability to activate and amplify aloha via King’s values of excellence, dignity, saying it life it is in a way it can be heard; and curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking and emotional intelligence.
• Rendering software is a plus (Esko or similar).
• Proficient in marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, advertisements, and multimedia design.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, Acrobat, Keynote, Microsoft PPT, Word and Asana (required).
• Strong understanding of social media and other digital social platforms.
• Working experience with packaging engineers for implementation of designs and transfer of visual assets.
• Illustration experience is preferred.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong work ethic and personal accountability.
• Strong design skills, specifically to packaging design, and an expert understanding of visual and communication design principles.

Annual Compensation Range: $79,100-$118,650
