FlexXray is the leading X-ray inspection and recovery service for the food industry. Operations have expanded from that firstX-ray food inspectionmachine to a 60,000-square-foot, temperature-controlled facility in Arlington, Texas, with additional locations in New Jersey, Illinois and South Carolina.
The FSQA Manager will direct all quality assurance activities for the Company and serve as a liaison as needed to customers during audits, complaint responses, site visits, and other educational needs around our processes. The FSQA manager will perform duties which support the company’s QA and operational key objectives as well as verify all processes to ensure Food Safety, Quality and HACCP specifications are met. Responsible for the review, verification, validation, and sustainability of the system. Works directly with plant management to schedule and control inspection activities and to enforce requirements as specified by our customers and regulatory agencies. Reviews documentation for completeness and accuracy. Initiates corrective action for procedural, product, or process deficiencies. Although job duties are related to regulatory and food safety systems, this is not a food production environment. As such, over 50% of the job will be spent on the floor with operations personnel constantly coaching and mentoring to ensure the highest possible quality culture.75% of the time will be spent at home (plant) location with travel to satellite locations on a monthly basis.Job is office/plant-based Monday – Thursday with the opportunity to work from home on Friday’s unless needs dictate otherwise.
More than any other QA role, this position is closely tied to and supports training and education within operations on a daily basis.
Job Duties:
- Work closely with Production Manager and Inspection Line Lead Operators to ensure daily inspection line reports are completed accurately.
- Work closely with facility leadership across all departments to maximize Quality’s influence on product quality and food safety.
- Evaluate and maintain all relevant food safety records and forms.
- Participate in customer plant audits.
- Work closely with Production Manager on the investigation and product disposition in the event of a process failure.
- Support facility audits periodically.
- Champion any special projects assigned by leadership.
- Ensure compliance to food safety and quality objectives.
- Manage USDA, FDA, FSMA compliance as well as any third-party audits.
- Manage HACCP, SSOP, Pest Control, and other programs supporting the quality system.
- Follow-up on corrective actions when quality deviation occurs.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
·BS in Food, Meat, Poultry Science, or adjacent scientific degree plans
·5 years existing food quality experience
·Familiarity with USDA and FDA regulations; quality systems; HACCP; Food Defense; etc.
·HACCP or equivalent certification
·Able to communicate in English and Spanish
