Freelance Graphic Design Assistant

Founded in 2018 by Ohad Seroya and Aviad Klin, Retrofête is a womenswear collection marked by its bold character, intricate detail, and sparkling embellishments. The New York-based label, which takes its name from a melding of synonyms for ‘vintage’ and ‘party’, channels disco-era after-hours through tastefully provocative, day-and-night silhouettes.

Retrofete is looking for a full-time Junior Graphic Designer to join our NYC-based web team. The Junior Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing and executing digital design across social, site, and marketing initiatives under the guidance of the Art Director. We seek a candidate who is passionate about fashion, design, and advertising.

What You’ll Do:

• Work on multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring on-time delivery and accurate execution against creative briefs
• Present work to internal teams and external partners with the ability to confidently communicate the rationale behind your design
• Assist with animation/motion graphics
• Work within brand guidelines while challenging yourself to think out of the box and elevate creative solutions
• Understanding the nuances of each digital platform (Social, Site, Email)
• Assist Art Director and web creative team by creating assets for social media, digital ads, email marketing, designing website banners, etc.
• Actively seek out inspiration, cultural and industry trends to ensure concepts are fresh and relevant in the fashion space
• Working directly with the social media manager to create new and exciting assets for Retrofete social channels, including but not limited to; Instagram stories, IGTVs, and static posts.
• Develop and design marketing assets with the creative team such as emails, lookbooks, digital ads, social and sales collateral that support sales initiatives

Who You Are:

• Has a keen eye for imagery and assets that support an eCommerce platform
• Is proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Indesign, After Effects, etc
• Passionate about Social Media
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as sales, PR, buying + merchandising, and outside partners
• Backed by 1-2 years of experience
• Able to commute to our NYC office daily
• Has a passion for fashion, photography, color theory, and typography
• Fluent in design, typography, and has a portfolio of thoughtful work that proves efficiency across the creative space
