The Oil & Gas, and Marine Division is currently looking for a Workshop Technician/Insitu Field Service Engineer to support all business segments (Oil & Gas, Marine, and Electric Power) in our medium speed engine business. As a Workshop Technician/Insitu Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing a variety of workshop services, technical insitu field service support (crankshaft grinding, engine block processing, metal stitching) to customer and dealer teams, and maintenance and troubleshooting activities, all while keeping safety as the number 1 priority. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for analyzing, tracking and working with respective departments in identification and resolution of Caterpillar Motoren (CM) product issues.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- If necessary, implementation of material tests by NDT (Non - Destructive Testing). Courses on NDT are offered if required
- Carry out NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) material testing as appropriate.
- Special service-related tasks as agreed with the team leader
- Prepare high standard technical reports to well document the workshop insitu service completed and other insitu field service-related activities in the English language.
- Take responsibility for on-site service coordination including daily meetings with customer and/or any outside vendor service personnel.
- Be responsible for coordinating day-to-day in-situ activities between dealers, field staff and other departments
- Provide hands on field support during the machining repair, mechanical and electrical servicing of CM products, and BOP (Balance of Plant) equipment including alignment, vibration analysis and measurements, and other service-related activities.
- Successful continuous participation in service-related training courses to expand existing know-how
- Manage Customer complaints and ensure they are resolved with both written and oral responses.
- Support Caterpillar Motoren (CM) customers with insitu machining activities and other field service activities through direct contact and/or through the network of CM parts and service distributors
- Ability to assess material properties and select materials according to their use
- When not traveling, provide a variety of workshop services such as cylinder head overhauls, fuel equipment overhauls, component machining, etc. in support of Caterpillar Motoren customers in the region.
- Finding the cause of defects in InSitu machines and rectification / repair including replacement of defective parts and implementation of functional tests
Basic Qualifications:
- High degree of self-organization
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Experience in non-destructive testing (Magnaflux etc.) or willingness to learn
- Experience in in situ machining e.g., crankshaft grinding, block repairs, etc.
- Proficient Knowledge of CM products and services or equivalent competitor medium speed engine/equipment
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 5 years’ experience in operating cutting machine equipment with high tolerances or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Requires good internal and external oral and written communication in English
- Requires knowledge of application guidelines, failure analysis and troubleshooting as required

Additional Information:
- This role will require 60-70% travel (global and domestic)
- The primary location for the role will be Miramar, Florida
