Summary
The Field Service Engineer under general guidance and minimal supervision, performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning of projects and provides maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
- Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service.
- Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions
- Performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of our equipment.
- Assist in the growth and direction of the North American business.
- Develop documentation to execute work such as commissioning and maintenance procedures, as well as execute customer training.
- Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations.
- Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline or an equivalent years of field service and/or commissioning experience
- Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice
- For field service engineers that have the potential of working offshore, must be able to pass a Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool.
- Minimum 1 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
Depending on the particular position, this role may be restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.
