This position may be located at one of our projects in Corpus Christi, Texas, Yakima County, Washington, or Champaign County, Ohio. Your project assignment will be based on business need. Per-diem and project allowance are available to help cover temporary living expenses for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. Depending on project availability, once your time on this project ends, you may be transferred to the next project or back to our home office in Houston, Texas to await your next assignment.
Here's how Field Engineer for our Solar division contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Participates in the supervision of self-perform scopes, including resolving crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
- Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
- This position is 100% travel - Candidates can be based out of anywhere in the US.
- Participates in crafting, implementing, and supervising quality plan, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
- Coordinates with the superintendent on workforce planning.
- Willing to work in all aspects of utility scale solar construction projects including but not limited to self-perform scopes of piles, racking, modules, and electrical; along with working with subcontractors in sitework, fencing, etc.
- Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns).
- Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to lead trade contractors, including requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, changes, and billings.
- Develop and maintains positive relationships focusing on all partners.
- Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifies hazards and corrections, and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
- Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
Qualifications
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field: construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Understands and applies construction principles to problem solve.
- Develops and maintains effective partner relationships.
- Writes clear technical communication to trade contractors, designers and inspectors.
- 0 to 8-12 months of varied experience as field engineer/coordinator preferred; time acquired during internships in the field may count as experience.
- Knowledge of construction specifications, and methods and procedures (e.g., formwork methodologies, self-perform work, subcontracted work scopes, temporary work, equipment, and scheduling techniques).
- Proven track record to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors, and reports.
- This position is 100% travel - Candidates can be based out of anywhere in the US.
- Utility Scale Construction experience is recommended but not required.
