Field Engineer Jobs

Manufacturer of PLC-based industrial machinery needs a field engineer / automation engineer / field technician / field service engineer / field service technician. This job is a road warrior-type position, which requires that you be available for frequent travel throughout the United States. You will visit steel plants and concrete fabricators who use steel for reinforcement. The company makes rebar bending and wire mesh welding machinery. You can live anywhere in the US.

· With a safety-first approach, you will be responsible for industrial machinery field service.

· Will work on the installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery. Provide diagnostic analysis, repair, or preventative maintenance.

· You will work with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and VFD’s (Variable Speed or Variable Frequency Drives).

· You will prepare reports about problems encountered, their causes, and their resolution.

· You will test, analyze, inspect, and adjust precision electromechanical instruments according to company engineering standards, and international safety standards.

REQUIREMENTS

· At least some college, military training, or on-the-job training in the test, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electromechanical machinery. Strong emphasis on PLC-based electronics troubleshooting.

· At least three years’ experience with field service of automated machinery is required, with both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

· Must have experience working with PLC’s and VFD’s.

· Basic knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting with a focus on Siemens and Beckhoff controls and servo drives, troubleshooting VFD motor controls and basic process control equipment.

· Must have experience dealing with industrial customers on capital equipment in their factories.

· Must have experience working for a corporate entity, representing the company at its customers’ sites.

· Should have a good understanding of computer-controlled machinery, electrical requirements, and troubleshooting of electromechanical equipment.

· Should have experience in providing equipment training to customers’ in-house technical staff.

This position requires your ability to be on the road most of the time since you will be working on installed machinery at customer sites. This is a road warrior type position.
