Job Description
Position: Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer

The Executive VP, Chief Business Officer will build and lead Rain’s corporate development organization, strategic portfolio and alliance management. In partnership with the Chief Commercial Officer, the CBO will be a key leader in the overall corporate and commercial strategy and life cycle management. This position reports to the CEO and will be a member of Rain’s executive leadership team.
Key Performance Objectives
  • Lead strategic portfolio management as well as life cycle management for milademetan and new programs
  • Lead, manage, direct and tenaciously drive projects to enhance and diversify the Rain therapeutic developmental pipeline
  • Lead corporate competitive intelligence efforts
  • The individual will lead cross-functional internal and external program teams to ensure that projects progress and meet pre-defined objectives and timelines.
  • Lead and manage strategic alliances and serve as the primary relationship manager
  • Prepare and iterate all external investor/partnership presentations and materials for Rain’s Board of Director and Board Committee meetings, in partnership with various departmental heads and/or third party teams
  • Additional responsibilities include building the Corporate Development team over time, managing the asset screening and diligence processes, and coordinating the external communications platform to present the company to potential new collaborators at key meetings and conferences.
  • Lead and manage the electronic data room during licensing, partnering or M&A processes, while interacting with external stakeholders.
Critical Job Skills
  • Experience with US and EU regulatory filing requirements and processes, including end-of-phase two agency meetings, and NDA submissions, are strongly preferred.
  • Maximize the value of all current and future pipeline expansion agreements, strategic alliance partnerships, and relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, academic institutions, and industry innovators.
  • Extensive experience analyzing a multitude of oncology tumor markets, with an emphasis on rare cancers.
  • Align strategies, objectives, and deliverables both internally and with our external partners.
  • This position is based in our Newark, CA office with in-office time expected of at least 3 days per week. Travel: up to approximately thirty percent.
  • The position requires exceptional presentation skills and in the preparation of presentation materials of the caliber required by the executive team, external investors, and stakeholders, including the Rain Board of Directors.
  • Building a business development organization across all relevant groups, and managing budgets through multiple workstreams
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the business development team, ensuring the ongoing success of the business development strategy from delivering the value of ongoing deals, highlighting new opportunities to actively encouraging wider business development.
Required And Preferred Education And Experience
  • Strategic mindset with high degree of creativity and innovation in developing new approaches, processes, and methodologies to enhance commercial operations.
  • Deal sheet evidencing capability in sourcing and executing asset licensing, M&A, divestiture, and/or other corporate transactions.
  • BA or BS degree required; MS or PhD preferred; plus at least fifteen years’ progressive experience required in drug development, marketing, business development and/or alliance management.
Salary / Compensation Range
The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position is $410,000 - $435,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on objective considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. An annual cash bonus and equity grants may be provided as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to a full range of financial, health and wellness benefits, dependent on the position offered.
