SEEKING: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WORKING WATERFRONT COALITION (Limited Part-Time, Remote)
Do you have experience managing a nonprofit association, Board of Directors, or external groups of stakeholders? Do you have a strong understanding of government policy and a desire to further relationships between industrial business and local government policy?
We’re looking for you! The Working Waterfront Coalition (WWC) is looking for a dynamic leader and relationship manager to be their next Executive Director.
Founded in 2005, the Working Waterfront Coalition advocates for sound public policy that promotes environmental, social and economic sustainability, as well as an equitable economy full of the types of family wage jobs available in the industrial sector. This nonprofit association is made up of businesses concerned about the environmental health and economic vitality of the Portland Harbor.
The Executive Director serves as Chief Administrative Officer and works closely with the Board of Directors, membership, and external stakeholders to promote the association’s mission and lead the long-term strategy of the organization.
Excellence in organizational and strategic plan development, networking, and team building are required. This position concentrates on maintaining a working knowledge of Portland’s working harbor and industrial properties, its business activities, and regulatory requirements, as well as the broader Portland economy.
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Have specific experience developing or managing public advocacy efforts, including public affairs and communications;
- Have experience managing a nonprofit association, Board of Directors, and/or external groups of stakeholders;
- Have a desire to understand and advocate for important relationships between the industrial business sector and policy goals of local government, especially pertaining to sustainability and the environment.
- Land use policy experience is a major plus, and private sector/industrial business experience is beneficial but not required.
- Have a deep understanding of government policy development and stakeholder outreach work. Existing relationship-building work in the Portland-metro area is strongly preferred
This is a limited, part-time (approximately 15 hours per week) and remote position with the option to have an office desk to work from in downtown Portland (across from Keller Auditorium).
The compensation range for this position is $38,000 - $42,000, and is dependent upon experience.
The Executive Director is an employee of Merchants Exchange (Exchange), with responsibility for Working Waterfront Coalition (WWC) in accordance with their Bylaws and pursuant to the service agreement between the Exchange and WWC.
Applications are being accepted until 12:00pm, Thursday, May 18th. This position will remain open until filled. Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment background check.
Please submit your resume and brief letter of interest to Trudy Hylemon, Cascade Employers Association [email protected].
